Nearly four years have passed since the War for the High Throne. Since the Heretics raised arms against the combined Ascendant forces. Four years since the Harbinger set foot upon the mortal realm. The Ascendant Forces of Adventia held initiated a vicious offensive in the opening year of the war. It seemed that Elsyaer and the Arcanium would once again be preserved against invasion. That was so, until the Harbinger burst from the gates of Dios' Hells and broke free the chained spirits of vengeance.
When King Lannis and his Nevalian armies met the Ascendants in the first official pitched battle at the border, morale was high, all had but wrote the Heretics off as a failing rebellion. Kytan Legions approached to support the Ascendants from the west, Sarenian nobles rode from the east. The golden sun set behind the blanketed peaks of the Kahiri Mountains and vengeance of a million Marcher souls came screaming to the front. The Harbinger took the field, with him cohorts of the fallen, risen again to take arms against the Ascendants.
The Battle of Rehner's Point would forever echo in history. Abominations of the inner most Hells, undead soldiers for as far as the eye could see, glimmering armor of the Nevalian shock troopers. They descended upon the Adventian armies and made short work of them. Within days the ranks had thinned, the main army fallen back. And back again, until they were holed up within Elysaer's walls. Dragons took flight, lycans poured on to the field, it was only a matter of time..
It was in First Frost of 1212 AF that they made the breach. Elysaer fell within hours. Queen Ariala was slain, Prince Trenton missing, Lord Crisus fell to Harbinger's blade, and the High Cleric... The High Cleric was executed by Harbinger, signaling the end of the siege. Harbinger took his place upon Kytos' Sacred Throne, his presence and the blood of the High Cleric tainted the Arcanium. The balance of neutral Arcana was shattered, and Tainted Arcana claimed the world around it.
The year is 1215 AF. The Central Marches has been conquered by Harbinger and King Lannis, with only small pockets of radical Ascendants presenting any sort of resistance. The brutal losses the Kytan Legions suffered rippled through the political circles of the Kytan high society. Emperor Cerdic has since gone in to hiding, leaving the Empire is civil unrest.
Sarenia stands opposed from its northern and southern borders. Rumors of the goblin hordes in the Ebon Mountains has placed the northern Dukes on edge, while the Hav'eh raiders plague the southern shores of the Kingdom, threatening a full on invasion of Sarenia. The events in the Marches led to a great immigration of refugees to the kingdom, increasing unrest and crime. The appearance of abominations and surge of Tainted Arcana have left little room for hope and happiness in the common folk as the Kingdom struggles to maintain its borders and inner security.
Havgaard is embattled in civil war as the Arcanium's corruption as led to speculation of the return of the Ice Giants. Warlords and Jaarls battle for favor of their Gods, in hopes of being spared in the coming apocalypse. Havgaard war bands cross regularly through the Ebon Mountains to Sarenia in hopes of finding new, and safer land. Causing both opportunity and conflict for their Sarenian neighbors.
Y'smere remains eerily quiet in the aftermath of the Kardanian events. Sailors and scouts report sightings of Elven military ships near the Empire's sea border.
The Far Reaches have become much more apparent in global politics as their export business grows in Kardania. Some have fled to the region in hopes of escaping the violence and turmoil in the mainland. The Reaches have long been ruled by ruthless dictators, their culture coming in direct conflict with the ideals of mainland Kardanians. Nonetheless, the Reaches remain absent from directly impacting matters of Kardanian, much like Y'smere.
Hell runs rampant in the mortal realm. The fracture of the Arcanium and presence of the Harbinger on Kytos' Throne has led to an unstable barrier between Patria, the Abyss, and Avernus. It is chaos on such a scale unseen since the time of Nevereen. The nobility of men has been compromised, no longer are the mortals born inclined to courage, hope, and compassion.
As some may know I separated from a fiancee a few months ago, which led to a lot of figuring life shit out on the fly. I have just completed moving in to a new house and setting up internet. I've been pulling extra details and tours of duty to cover some expenses on top of spending time with my son, everything is starting to level out now and I'm back.
Let's sound off, so I can try to get a bearing on where I am with the site. I've been out nearly two months, if ANYONE is left, lemme hear you.
